Who provides those services? How can I be certain GPS is qualified to help address my health issues?

All services are provided by the sole owner-advocate of GPS, Dr. Annette Ticoras. She trained and practiced as an internal medicine physician and has experience serving as an advocate and navigator. Click the Patient Stories tab to read what others are saying and the About GPS tab to learn more about our advocate.

How much does it cost? Will my insurance pay for services?

Services are billed at an hourly rate and are not covered by most insurance companies.

How does GPS differ from other advocates? Is there a difference?

The advocacy and navigation services provided to our clients are private in nature. Other health care entities may employ advocates/navigators to assist insured individuals or patients within their facility. These employed advocates, while helpful, ultimately have an allegiance to their employer. At GPS, we work exclusively with and for the client alone.

What geographical areas do you serve?

GPS serves the greater Columbus area including Franklin and Delaware counties. Other areas may be included as well–please contact the office to discuss your unique situation.

Can GPS provide medical advice or treatment?

No. GPS can only act as your health advocate or navigator. An advocate can help you understand, organize and process medical information. All medical knowledge, authority and advice must come from the client’s own physicians and medical care team. Absolutely no medical advice or treatment is rendered to the client by the advocate.

How can Guided Patient Services (GPS) help me or my family member?

GPS is able to provide medical interpretation, guidance, and support services to clients and their families. GPS can assist in a myriad of capacities, including, but not limited to, accompanying clients to routine medical care and appointments, surgery, ER visits, or hospitalization. Out-of- town family and overextended caregivers now have a reliable, caring and experienced alternative to act as their liaison when necessary or desired. See Our Services tab for more details.

How do I get started?

Just click on the Contact tab. GPS will arrange an initial consultation to assess your unique advocacy needs and personalize a plan for guiding and improving your healthcare experience.

Is my personal and health information kept private and confidential?

Reasonable efforts are made by GPS in transmitting health records, electronic mail and billing of contracted clients to adhere to privacy and security regulations.
